Just a few Saturdays back. When I decide to have some time at home since from my urban life, did so minor tidying at home. Was packing some clothes that have been serving me for at least 7-8 years, and thought they should retired since they are pretty worn by now.
Then it struck me that perhaps I could make good use with some parts of the fabric from some clothing on a dress I ruined quite recently.

This was how the dress was supposed to look like. I have never had such strong liking for a dress, from the material to it simple yet classy cutting and yet I didn't have a chance to wear it; its gone. :<
Surprisingly I went straight ahead with my idea, without much hesitation.
Firstly I took out the dress I ruined, significantly obvious that it is due to the overheated iron despite at its lowest heat. Probably its time to change it. Of course felt very heart-broken because its in my favourite shade of blue, plus it didn't made it for any maiden experience for wearing it out yet. Still decide to keep it though it could not be worn out solely like this due to the gigantic iron-marked kissed on the center of the dress.
Then I chose a floral top that has been around since I am in my Secondary days. I didn't want to keep because the back of the top is full of bobbles, thus making it a little uncomfortable when you are wearing it.
And then the tresses begin. Teeheex. Did some brain storming how to make this dress look wearable and manageable to do even when I am a noob at sewing. Finally came to a conclusion to make it look like a "fake 2-piece", with the white floral top shape like a tube I am wearing over the dress.
Cut out the excess unwanted area of the floral top.
Estimate the approximate position of how I want the it to be and used bob pins to fixed and stablised the position, to ease sewing.
Sewing begins. ^^
Was pretty happy to see this colours combination because Blue x White x Pink are not just always my favourite colours, they are my favourite colour combinations. Pretty sure that it is going to turn out what I expected it to be. :D
Was trying to be as accurate and careful with the threads and needles, it ain't an easy job to get them in the position you wanted.
After a good whole 7 hours this is the end product.
Looks much more wearable now. *Proud moment*
Wore the dress out the other day. Though I understand I didn't do a perfect job but I think I did my best, so I was pretty confident when I wore it out. Took quite several pictures of course.
the Forth of the dress.
Some side view of the dress.
Whee. Twirling and twirling. Kekex.
Special thanks to Unnie A for helping me with the photos that day. She knows that I would like to post some good pictures of the outcome of the end product I did and gave me all the patience she have that day. :D
Am a happy girl after I manage to turn 2 apparels that I wouldn't wear to something I would now.
Happy thoughts can be so simple, and cost efficient. Hahax.
Alright, the upcoming post would be a collaboration with an overseas online webstore on accessories. Stay tuned...
Signing off,
XOXO
